This image makes me giggle, i think it works quite well it gives the impression that 'if your going to score use a condom'. This will defiantly appeals to men by including sport and sex, its simple and quick to understand. I like the background as well as if it looks like a basketball or some sort of sports equipment.
This image is clever and purely appeals to men that game. It makes gaming look seductive and would appeal to men on a sexual level. It also kind of makes it look like its 'out of your reach' because of the message underneath saying 'keep on dreaming' as it that applies to the men that game. Its a little sad.
This image is interesting to look at, its good how the used the shadow to create a silhouette of what is going on in the hand. It is basically saying the smoking is like taking a gun to yourself. With the message just reiterating the fact. The image is so powerful and really makes you stop and look at it, i like images that work like this.
I think this image works well because of the combination of text and image, the text seems to explain the image and vice versa. What i also like about the image is the fact that it's painted on the wall so everyone can read it which means its not aimed at a specific audience but still works for everyone.
Again this is the sort of image that speaks for itself, there is no secret message its straight and has a point. Its a clear message that gets across to the audience, you can tell the audience would obviously be people who love tennis. The added type just bulks the image up and makes it clearer as to what it is trying to say.
This image captured my attention, it seems to me that the hands are in awe of the 'style' box. it looks to me to be similar to the image of the hands with a dove in the middle, this has religious undertones. this makes the image powerful on a few levels, firstly with he connection with religion secondly, with the idea of the style box being something to be in awe of, and the halo around the box making it seem powerful. Clever use of imagery and type.
These images are focusing on audience and message. With journalists and newspapers they employ illustrators to help push the message across in certain articles in a comical way. people respond well to this and it is a very effective way of making a story more influential then it already is. i focused on looking at the images of Gordon Brown, because at the moment these are some of the best illustrations. The images work in a way of big cartoon and then text to reiterate the point which works and makes you smile/laugh.
Although this image isn't a piece of graphic design i was looking at message and culture combined together and this is a message that nearly everyone in the world knows, if they know gangs. The tears tattooed on this mans face represent the people he has killed for the gang he is in. its not a nice message or a particularly hard image to copy if you wanted to but if you see those tears you know that by association the person who has them has killed. I think this is one of the smallest piece of symbolism but ultimately one of the most powerful.
Although on a whole his image is not the best i like the message that is coming across. I found this on a cultural diversity group and how they were aiming to get all cultures to work together. I like the idea of working together to put the puzzle together one piece at a time. I think this works well and helps illustrate the point they want to make.
With this image it heavily relies on working with a message, what intriguing is how the have utalised that message to create an image as provocative as this. You look at the silhouette and see a woman walking seductively towards you then you read what she is made out of, it makes the image look so seedy and dark. Also using the vibrant colours it makes it look like neon, which gives the automatic association of night time making you think of a club atmosphere, prostitute, stripper? Also what i think is interesting is the words 'soft' and 'cute' are the words a man would use to describe the girl, a girl wouldn't describe herself like that. On the whole an extremely powerful image.
This is looking at creating meaning from image and type, what this image also does is create an audience for it. with it being on a wall this means anyone can read it and it is down to their own interpretation, the message is simple and effective but paired with the symbolism of the type breaking through the wall helps reiterate what is being said. This piece wouldn't be as powerful just on paper.
This piece is a visual metaphor. It's quite a clever piece showing the idea that should gene selection be this accessible, comparing it to a vending machine full of beer. What i like most about this image is the way it makes you think with the strong use of symbolism, showing the beer as possible genes and the idea of people just picking and choosing what they want. I think this works better than an image that would possibly say 'we shouldn't play god' because that opens to debate this jus hits home on the most simple of levels.
