Fashion has always been an avid supporter of recycling everyday materials into fashionable and unique styled garments. It is interesting to look at these outfits because it makes you realise how versatile some of the day to day materials that we take for granted actually are. I think it is important to understand this in order to create something new because if it can be bent and shaped to fir the form of a body then it can be used to create something new and inventive.

All these bags are made from different materials. They all have a unique quality about them and although they are functional you can clearly see what they are made from, which i think is very interesting. It makes the purchaser appreciate where the bag has come from and makes you think about the amount of time and effort that has gone into each piece to create these bags.
i think this guys work is AMAZING. I love the simplicity of the designs, yet once they are layered upon one another they create such intriguing and confusing images, which isn't a bad thing. His use of colour is fascinating and he really know how to utalises his space. The work is all screen printed then made into posters, this is the sort of work that one day i hope to achieve.
We recently did some workshops in screen printing, and i was fascinated by the technique. not only can you create beautiful images but they are so transferable. You can print on anything you want, metal, wood, glass you name it as long as it has a smooth surface you can print on it. Here are some designs i have looked at briefly just to get some ideas.
Looking at recycling and new and innovative ways to recycle your rubbish.

Image 2. I really like this, this is a roll of old clothes fashioned into a new roll of material used to create fashion patterns and garments. I think this is a really inventive way of recycling your old clothes instead of just using vintage shops etc. I also really like the pattern that it creates.
Image 3. I think this is one of my favorite ideas, using old cassette players as purses. I think this is idea is fairly modern and a lot of students i know would love to have one of these. they are really cool and quirky and that is quite appealing. its a completely different way of looking at old cassettes etc.
Image 4. There is nothing too special about this image other than its made solely from cardboard, i just like the logo and what it stands for because of the fact that is a really recognisable image and everyone will know what it means.
Image 5. Printed cloth, with this i just really like the idea of printing on something other than paper, like old t-shirts etc. making them into new designs.
CoCa-Cola Designs. I really like these bottle designs, i don't know whether they were ever actually made but i would have loved to see them if they were. Its amazing how a splash of colour and a different style can completely rebrand a who design. although i love this design it is no where near as versatile as the coke design right now, the design now is generic and well established around the world everyone knows and recognises it.

Hugo Boss. A lot of fashion marketers use graphic designers to publisise their wares. I realy love the hugo boss for men adverts they are all really creative and non of them are the same. I like the patterns and styles each one has my favorite being the last one with the city scape inside the bottle. They never go too over the top with colour but their designs are intricate and detailed which when compared to Ed Hardy's designs is a big difference.

Ed Hardy. I think that the designs created by ed hardy are fantastic. Again the bright colours and the seemingly complicated designs make the clothes irresistible to me. The one thing that is in the way is the Atlantic ocean and a huge price tag, otherwise i would be constantly kitted out in their latest clothes. I have always been a big fan of tattoo work and i love the idea of wearing a tattoo that isn't permanent but still sticks out and looks unmistakably like a tattoo. This graphic design is so easily transfered from skin to jacket or from jacket to skin, i love this work.

Personally I love Harvey Nichols, not because of the overpriced, pretentious clothes/handbags/jewelry they sell but because every now and then they get in some genious designed items. For examples this Christmas i was looking for Christmas presents for my mum and dad and went up to the food court to stumble across some amazing wine/champagne bottles designed by Christian Audiger (who i am a huge fan of due to my love for ed hardy!). Unfortunately the over priced bottles were out of my budget but i still loved them and returned a couple of times to just look at the designs. what i love about Audigers work is the flamboyance and bright use of colour. the patterns are erratic to say the least but the designs seem so intricate and intriguing but i mostly based around thick and thin drawing with the use of block colouring. I love this work and i think to any person, not just an artist, this work is engaging and simple for them to look at and therefore very enjoyable.
