Recycling

8 March 2010

Looking at recycling and new and innovative ways to recycle your rubbish.

Image 1. Using newspaper to insulate housing, this is actually become quite popular as more and more people are trying to use sustainable material to create houses. There is a house in London, that was built solely from hay..although i think it burnt down but still. Good use of old materials.

Image 2. I really like this, this is a roll of old clothes fashioned into a new roll of material used to create fashion patterns and garments. I think this is a really inventive way of recycling your old clothes instead of just using vintage shops etc. I also really like the pattern that it creates.

Image 3. I think this is one of my favorite ideas, using old cassette players as purses. I think this is idea is fairly modern and a lot of students i know would love to have one of these. they are really cool and quirky and that is quite appealing. its a completely different way of looking at old cassettes etc.

Image 4. There is nothing too special about this image other than its made solely from cardboard, i just like the logo and what it stands for because of the fact that is a really recognisable image and everyone will know what it means.

Image 5. Printed cloth, with this i just really like the idea of printing on something other than paper, like old t-shirts etc. making them into new designs.

Where is graphic design...

28 December 2009

CoCa-Cola Designs. I really like these bottle designs, i don't know whether they were ever actually made but i would have loved to see them if they were. Its amazing how a splash of colour and a different style can completely rebrand a who design. although i love this design it is no where near as versatile as the coke design right now, the design now is generic and well established around the world everyone knows and recognises it.

Where is graphic design...

Hugo Boss. A lot of fashion marketers use graphic designers to publisise their wares. I realy love the hugo boss for men adverts they are all really creative and non of them are the same. I like the patterns and styles each one has my favorite being the last one with the city scape inside the bottle. They never go too over the top with colour but their designs are intricate and detailed which when compared to Ed Hardy's designs is a big difference.

Where is graphic design...

Ed Hardy. I think that the designs created by ed hardy are fantastic. Again the bright colours and the seemingly complicated designs make the clothes irresistible to me. The one thing that is in the way is the Atlantic ocean and a huge price tag, otherwise i would be constantly kitted out in their latest clothes. I have always been a big fan of tattoo work and i love the idea of wearing a tattoo that isn't permanent but still sticks out and looks unmistakably like a tattoo. This graphic design is so easily transfered from skin to jacket or from jacket to skin, i love this work.

Where is graphic design...

Personally I love Harvey Nichols, not because of the overpriced, pretentious clothes/handbags/jewelry they sell but because every now and then they get in some genious designed items. For examples this Christmas i was looking for Christmas presents for my mum and dad and went up to the food court to stumble across some amazing wine/champagne bottles designed by Christian Audiger (who i am a huge fan of due to my love for ed hardy!). Unfortunately the over priced bottles were out of my budget but i still loved them and returned a couple of times to just look at the designs. what i love about Audigers work is the flamboyance and bright use of colour. the patterns are erratic to say the least but the designs seem so intricate and intriguing but i mostly based around thick and thin drawing with the use of block colouring. I love this work and i think to any person, not just an artist, this work is engaging and simple for them to look at and therefore very enjoyable.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

23 November 2009

this image relates to stress. It gives the idea that your are a bursting point and one little thing will make you burst. Having said that you wouldn't be able to tell that without being told. I like the image though and its a good metaphor for the meaning.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

Again this is another image that illustrates smoking kills. the image alone works really well you cant really be confused when you look at it, it speaks for itself. Visually i think maybe their could be more done but i like the cigarette still smoking it makes it more visually interesting.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

this image works really well, i like the use of just simple type to illustrate the meaning. this means its strong and easy to understand, it is like using type and image yet it is just type.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

This image makes me giggle, i think it works quite well it gives the impression that 'if your going to score use a condom'. This will defiantly appeals to men by including sport and sex, its simple and quick to understand. I like the background as well as if it looks like a basketball or some sort of sports equipment.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

This image is clever and purely appeals to men that game. It makes gaming look seductive and would appeal to men on a sexual level. It also kind of makes it look like its 'out of your reach' because of the message underneath saying 'keep on dreaming' as it that applies to the men that game. Its a little sad.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

This image is interesting to look at, its good how the used the shadow to create a silhouette of what is going on in the hand. It is basically saying the smoking is like taking a gun to yourself. With the message just reiterating the fact. The image is so powerful and really makes you stop and look at it, i like images that work like this.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

This is one of my favorite images by far, to be honest it really speaks for itself. Its a metaphor that works well it shows the death that happens due to smoking. Its kind of a creepy image but the detail within it is amazing and really captures what is being said.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

The photography of the gun with the bandage is a strong enough image anyway and might not need the text accompanying it however the text does add to the image and just helps clarify what is being said, this is a good visual metaphor and will make people think on literal terms.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

What i like about this image is that it appears as if the woman is in pain, its as if shes trying to get that 'perfect' body. You can kind of see whats going on in her mind through the image used. Its a powerful image but is purely up to peoples own interpretation.

What is graphic Design Part 2.

I think this image works well because of the combination of text and image, the text seems to explain the image and vice versa. What i also like about the image is the fact that it's painted on the wall so everyone can read it which means its not aimed at a specific audience but still works for everyone.

I just really like this image, i love the use of colour and text. the text goes well with the image making it thick and imposing which matches the style in which the image is drawn with the thick and thin lines.

What is graphic Design 2.

Again this is the sort of image that speaks for itself, there is no secret message its straight and has a point. Its a clear message that gets across to the audience, you can tell the audience would obviously be people who love tennis. The added type just bulks the image up and makes it clearer as to what it is trying to say.

What is graphic Design 2.

One of the oldest symbols in the book together with the type works very well. The message is simple and you can't really miss judge it. Oldie but a goodie.

What is graphic Design 2.

This image captured my attention, it seems to me that the hands are in awe of the 'style' box. it looks to me to be similar to the image of the hands with a dove in the middle, this has religious undertones. this makes the image powerful on a few levels, firstly with he connection with religion secondly, with the idea of the style box being something to be in awe of, and the halo around the box making it seem powerful. Clever use of imagery and type.
